Unlike most Chinese consoles, the MMP firmware is stored in the internal memory of the console. To update it, follow these steps:
- Open the console settings and check the firmware version. We are interested in the four digits after 2023 in the firmware name. For example, 202306282128 means the firmware 0628 is from June 28.
- If you have version 0628 installed, no update is needed.
- If you have an older version (2303, 0419, 0505), it is recommended to update to version 0628.
- Visit the official Miyoo website at https://www.lomiyoo.com/en/gujianxiazai.html and download the miyoo mini+ plus 0628 firmware archive.
- If you purchased the console with a memory card:
- Format the original memory card to FAT 32, extract the miyoo354_fw.img file from the downloaded firmware archive, and place it in the root directory of the memory card. Note that this will erase all data on the original memory card. Make a backup first.
- Copy the miyoo354_fw.img file to the root directory of any other memory card formatted to FAT32. For instructions on how to format a memory card to FAT32, refer to the link provided.
- If the console was purchased without a memory card, first format a memory card to FAT32, then extract the miyoo354_fw.img file from the archive and place it in the root directory of the memory card.
- Turn off the console and insert the memory card with the miyoo354_fw.img file.
- Connect the power cable to the console and plug it into a power block (preferably 5V, 2A, as the firmware update may not start from a computer USB).
- The charging indicator and firmware update process will appear on the screen.
- Wait for the firmware update to complete without disconnecting the power cable.
- After the console reboots, turn it off, remove the memory card, and delete the miyoo354_fw.img file from it.
- Open the console settings and verify that the standard firmware has been updated.
