How to Upload Games via Wi-Fi to muOS Using a PC

This guide is for retro gaming consoles such as Anbernic RG28xx, RG35XX 2024, RG35XXH, RG35XX Plus, and RG35XX SP, which use muOS firmware.

To upload games (ROMs) and other files wirelessly, you will need a computer (Microsoft Windows OS), a console with the muOS firmware installed, and a shared Wi-Fi network that both your computer and console can connect to. This guide uses the WinSCP 6.3.5 utility and muOS 2405.2 firmware as examples.

Steps:

  1. Install WinSCP on your computer from this link.
  2. Open WinSCP for the first time, and it will prompt you to enter the following connection details:
    • Username: root
    • Password: root
    • Host Name: You’ll need to obtain this using the next few steps.
  3. Turn on your console and go to Configuration, then head to Web Services.
  4. Enable “SFTP + Filebrowser” (it should show as “Enabled”).
  5. Go back to Configuration and then to Wi-Fi Network.
  6. Press X to scan for available Wi-Fi networks.
  7. Select the network your computer is connected to.
  8. Enter your Wi-Fi password in the “Password” field.
  9. Press “Connect” after entering the password.
  10. If the connection is successful, you’ll see “Status Connected” along with an IP address at the bottom of the screen. This IP address is what you’ll enter as the Host Name in WinSCP.
  11. After entering the Host Name, Username, and Password in WinSCP, click Save. You can name the connection anything you like (such as muOS or Knulli) to help you identify it, especially if you have multiple setups.
  12. Check the box for “Remember Password”, and click OK.
  13. Congratulations! You’ve now completed the basic setup for SFTP access.
  14. Now, simply click Login to connect to your console via SFTP.
  15. Be cautious: Once connected, you will have full access to the console’s firmware, including system files. Accidentally deleting any important files may require you to reflash the device.
  16. Using WinSCP is straightforward: drag and drop files from the left window (your computer) to the right window (the console), and they will be wirelessly uploaded to your console.
  17. Useful directories for muOS:
    • /mht/mmc/ – Access to the first memory card for games.
    • /mht/sdcard/ – Access to the second memory card for games.

By following these steps, you can easily upload files to your muOS console wirelessly using your computer.
