If you’re using the Data Frog R36S console with the ArkOS v2.0 (07042024) firmware, here’s a handy guide with shortcuts to help you get the most out of it.
Basic Controls
- Turn on the console: Hold the power button until the indicator light turns on.
- Proper shutdown: Press FN + power button for a quick shutdown, or go to the console menu: Start > Quit > Shutdown System > Yes.
- Restart the console: Use the reset button or navigate through the console menu: Start > Quit > Restart System > Yes.
- Force shutdown (if the console freezes): Hold the power button.
- Sleep mode: Press the power button briefly (not recommended for long periods as the console may overheat).
Console Settings
- Access the settings: Start
- Adjust screen brightness: FN + Down Arrow or Up Arrow
- Navigate the console menu: B to go back, A to confirm.
- Add a game to Favorites: Highlight the game (without starting it) and press Y. The game will appear in the Favorites section.
In-Game Controls
- Rewind: Hold FN
- Pause: FN + A
- Quick Save: FN + R1
- Quick Load: FN + L1
- Exit game: FN + Start (press twice quickly)
- Restart game: FN + B
- Console menu (PS1, Sega, Nintendo): FN + X (close the menu with the same buttons)
- Console menu (PSP): FN + R3 (close the menu with the same buttons)
PS1 Disc Switching
- If the game is in one file: FN + X > Quick Menu > Disc Control > Eject Disc > Current Disc Index, choose the disc, then Insert Disc.
- If the game is in multiple files: FN + X > Quick Menu > Disc Control > Load New Disc, then choose the disc.
Save and Load (PS1, Sega, Nintendo)
- Saving: FN + X > Quick Menu > Save States > Save State. To change the save slot, go to State Slot and select a different slot.
- Loading: FN + X > Quick Menu > Save States > Load State. To change the load slot, go to State Slot, select a different slot, and then load the state.
In-Game Navigation
- B button: Usually confirms actions, but can go back in menus.
- A button: Usually goes back, but can confirm actions in some cases.
Watching Videos
- Fast forward 10 minutes: R2, rewind with L2
- Fast forward 1 minute: Up Arrow, rewind with Down Arrow
- Standard fast forward: Right Arrow, rewind with Left Arrow
- Pause: A
- Mute: X
- Exit video: FN + Start (press twice quickly)
Additional Tips
- If the analog sticks start acting up (left becomes right, etc.), try restarting the console or open Sega Mega Drive, select Dune 2: The Battle for Arrakis, start the first mission, and move the sticks around.
- While charging, the display may always show 100% battery, but this may not be accurate.
